This year's edition of Raider coaching rumors is in full swing. The media pendulum has gone from one extreme - Ryan's out - to the other - Kiffin's out (via Peter King on NBC last night). Even Jerry McDonald, who has been rather level-headed through this process is now asking, "What's going on?"
My question is, why does it seem that NFL insiders are becoming more rumor-monger than reporter? Is it because I am a fan of the most secretive and poorly understood team in the league? Is it because Al Davis is getting crazier? Is it because the Jay Glazers and Adam Schefters have become stars and are pushing the older dudes like King, Clayton, and Mortensen to compete for scoops?
Maybe it's all of those things. In this case I'm going to try and enjoy the drama - it gives us something to do during the playoffs. Perhaps someone should keep score with respect to the reporters and we can start to build empirical evidence of which ones are haters and which have reliable Raider sources. I know Nancy Gay is 0-for-2 (keeping Moss, Kiffin to Arkansas) and counting...

More like 0-3, at least. Remember, Warren Sapp was going to get cut along with the other players over 32 years-old because of Lane's insecurity about dealing with players older then him. 0-4 about drafting Brady Quinn or Calvin Johnson i.e. anybody but JaMarcus.
See, that's why I need to write this down. How could I forget that Sapp was supposed to be cut? I wish Nancy would weigh in definitively on the Ryan vs. Kiffin issue so we could get a read on what's not going to happen.
Funny...after I wrote about NFL insiders I was trying to figure out who the CBS insider is. I rarely watch CBS because other than James Brown their studio show is an unwatchable cast. Turns out their insider is Charlie Casserly (vaguely remember that), and Jerry blogged about his sign-off today. It actually brings logic into the argument instead of everyone else's speculation based purely upon Al being insane.
Sapp SHOULD have been cut. He wasn't, but that doesn't make Nancy Gay stupid, (my word, I know). Nancy Gay just thinks she is GM material - but really, these chick reporters and sportscasters that cover men's sports are an irritant. They have never played at the level they are reporting (the men too, I know) and are able to go into the locker room and stare at half-dressed or naked athletes of the opposite sex. I want to cover womens sports, and go into the locker room and interview them, fresh out of the shower. Never listen to a chick trying to talk sports; they are invariably wrong, boring and with the exception of Cheryl Miller, they couldn't play a lick of any sport. Just like female comedians, they are a byproduct of what Women's Equal Rights has wrought upon our society. Not all of it is good.
I see someone's been listening to Hot Talk 560 outside of game day...
Sorry, bro - I don't listen to Hot Talk 560. I have never heard it - not one time. I have never liked female reporters - you should know that. Besides, when have you known me to hop on somebody else's bandwagon, as far as polarizing opinions go? No, my opinion is a Sllaacs Original.
