Madden Retires

Hall of Fame Raiders Coach and one of the very few people actually wrapped in the literal Cloak of Immortality, John Madden, has retired from NBC's Sunday Night NFL broadcast.

Two quick things, and then if I get a chance I'll post various reactions throughout the day:

1. Maybe he'll take a role with the franchise. He's not much younger than Al, but he's made a lot of money over the years, especially off his video game. Plus, he's popular in ways that Al isn't, and could be a good face to put forward in negotiations for a new stadium, etc.

2. If NBC doesn't put Cris Collinsworth in the booth with Al Michaels--and I mean by himself...don't trying to team him up with Warren Sapp or the newly retired Brett Favre--and let them be the best broadcast team in sports, by FAR. Nobody working color commentary today is better. I actually learn things about the game of football listening to Collinsworth break down tape. And, the Professor thinks he has a sexy voice.
